As part of a music class project, various songs were distributed “blindly” to the student groups. The aim was to interpret the pieces of music and shoot a video that reproduces the composition as best as possible. Only the pieces of music, not the respective titles, were distributed. After weeks of work, this masterpiece was created and received the best possible grade in the evaluation.
Felix Mendelssohn was a German composer who lived in the 19th century. He was fascinated by William Shakespeare's comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream and wrote an overture and incidental music for it. He composed the overture at the age of 17 after reading the German translation by August Wilhelm von Schlegel. He added the incidental music 16 years later at the request of King Frederick William IV of Prussia, who was planning a performance in the New Palace in Potsdam. The music includes well-known pieces such as the wedding march, the scherzo and the finale. The music reflects the fantastic and humorous atmosphere of A Midsummer Night's Dream and is one of Mendelssohn's most popular and frequently performed works.
